People especially women can easily get bladder infection after having sexual intercourse with their partner especially for them who practice sexually active. Frequently sexual activity also has been said as a major causes of bladder infection (75% to 90%) especially for young women. Using the spermicide and independent of sexual frequency may also increase the UTI risk.

Urinary catheterization also may increasing the urinary tract infections risk. It is advisable to apply catheterizing only when necessary so that the risk will be decrease. Always using aseptic technique for insertion, and maintaining unobstructed closed drainage of the catheter.

Other risk or uti causes are diabetes, being uncircumcised and having a large prostate. A predisposition for bladder infection also may run in families.
